What are the different types of massage and what do they mean?
SWEDISH MASSAGE
Based on
classic Swedish strokes, this relaxation massage uses light to medium pressure
to improve circulation and relieve muscular tension.
AROMATHERAPY
MASSAGE
This massage
combines the use of essential oils and body massage for the ultimate in
relaxation, and healing physical, emotional, mental strain and health problems.
NEUROMUSCULAR MASSAGE
For those individuals in need of pain relief (or referred pain).
The techniques applied here help to improve joint and muscular function, as
well as range of motion. This is good for people with chronic pain in shoulders
or back, migraine headaches due to muscle tension or stress. NMT is also good for injury recovery.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE
A technique
that releases restrictions in the fascia layer to eliminate pain and restore
motion. Fascia is connective tissue that is all over the body. Every part of
your body is covered in one connecting tissue including muscle, bone, arteries,
veins, and even your internal organs. Just imagine a wet suite that
doesn’t fit properly!
Physical trauma, injury or even poor posture can affect the pliability
of your fascia causing tension in the body. A normal healthy fascia moves
freely with you when you reach or bend or just walk and sit. Restricted fascia
will cause a feeling of tightness and/or pain when you move. Many people feel
an immediate difference after their first fascia release, saying they feel more
flexible now. Just bending without
pain is very liberating.
DEEP
TISSUE MASSAGE
This
specialized massage is for the individual seeking the release of chronic muscle
tension and/or sore tired muscles.
This massage works deeper muscles tissue to release the tension and soreness.
Slower strokes and direct pressure are applied. Good for anyone living an
active lifestyle.
ATHLETES
SPORTS MASSAGE
This massage is
for the advanced competitive athletes that push their bodies harder than the
rest of us. Chronic strain and overuse injuries from sports or activity.
Pre-event and post-event therapy for competition. This massage will improve
recovery rate and improve performance levels by removing distracting pain and
stress from competing. Pre-event
should be scheduled approx 3 to 5 days BEFORE competition. Post-event should be
scheduled at least 48 hrs AFTER competition.
PRE
NATAL
For the mother
to be. This Massage specializes in relaxation for specific comfort needs during
your pregnancy as well as relieving stress in a safe effective manner.
HOT
STONE MASSAGE
The ultimate
experience in seeking relaxation and well-being. Warm basalt stones are placed
on areas that hold tension, such as the back and abdomen. Flowing massage
strokes promote tranquility and healing within the body.
